New publication! STEM, gender, and mental health: Understanding depression and anxiety in a national undergraduate sample

PhD candidate Jynx Pigart and Katey just published a study examining how depression and anxiety vary across gender and field of study in a national undergraduate sample.
Analyzing survey data from 43,910 students at 135 U.S. institutions, they found that women reported more severe symptoms of anxiety and depression than men, STEM majors reported more severe depression symptoms than non-STEM majors, though no differences were found for anxiety, and that women and STEM students were more likely to report that anxiety negatively impacted their exam performance.
