J.D. candidate Sam Maas collaborated with Nicholas Wiesenthal, Katey and Sara to investigate the experiences of LGBTQ+ Ph.D. students in academic biology. Through interviews with 22 LGBTQ+ Ph.D. students, they found that while many students feared discrimination, they also resisted these narratives by coming out and fostering inclusivity in their teaching practices, contributing to a more inclusive STEM environment.
