New publication! Academic social comparison: a promising new target to reduce fear of negative evaluation in large-enrollment college science courses

PhD candidate Jynx Pigart, Katey, and Dr. David MacKinnon explored how academic social comparison influences the fear of negative evaluation (FNE) among marginalized undergraduate science students.

They surveyed 909 students across 15 research-intensive U.S. institutions and found that women, non-binary, and LGBTQ+ students experienced higher FNE compared to their peers on account of higher academic social comparison.
